Welcome to the Madness: A New Chapter Begins

Ahoy and Hej there,

So here it is, my new newsletter! (Yes, another new thing I'm starting. Some of you might be thinking, "Oh great, another project Björn is diving into.") Well, that's just how it is. Those who know me understand that I get bored quickly and love trying out new things.

Why a Newsletter?

Why start a newsletter? Why start something new and work on building reach again? There are several reasons. For one, I just want to let my chaotic thoughts run free. If you listened to my pandemic podcast with Christopher (Hinter den Spiegeln Podcast), you know I've got this little monkey in my head that randomly throws bizarre ideas at me. Like right now, Helge Schneider’s "Fitze Fitze Fatze" (sorry, English speakers, even I can't explain that one. How do you say, "das ist Punk, das raffste nie"? It's art, maybe it's punk, but Helge is definitely anarchic.

Another reason is that I have zero motivation to battle algorithms or try to be the loudest out there. Believe it or not, I'm quite introverted in many ways. Yes, I know, no one believes me when they meet me, but hey, after a day or two of socializing, I just need some time for myself. There are days when I just have no desire to interact with people. I’ll definitely be talking about how exhausting that can be at weddings in future posts.

I love sharing my thoughts, and this newsletter seems like a great way to do it—no algorithms, no SEO, no shouting into the void. I reach you directly in your email inbox. Cool, right? I think so.

What to Expect

So, what can you expect here? A unique perspective from the life of a wedding photographer who's been capturing moments for over 12 years. There are times I feel like quitting weddings, but then I realize (according to others) that I'm just too good at it to stop. What really annoys me about the wedding industry is the superficiality—everyone loves everyone, and it's all so perfect. Seriously? I won't be throwing anyone under the bus, but I won't hold back my thoughts either.

I might also talk about music, movies, and TV shows that have grabbed my attention lately. Jana (my wife) and I just binged Sherlock with Cumberbatch again for the umpteenth time. We also finally watched Interstellar by Christopher Nolan. WHAT, JUST NOW? Yes, I know. Why does Nolan always do that crazy stuff with time and dimension shifts? Mind blown!

What else? No idea. The Tour de France is coming up soon! Yay! Not interested? Don’t care, I'm watching it anyway. For those who are interested, have you seen the latest season of Tour de France: Unchained on Netflix?
